Seasonal Tips
Autumn
March, April and May
Autumn in New Zealand is a bit like a box of chocolates, you’re not quite sure what you’ll get but more often
than not the weather is pretty good and much of the country bursts with seasonal colours.
Autumn is harvest time, and the opportunity to taste some of the fruits (and vegetables) of your hard work.
March
- Sow new lawns
- If the weather is warm and moist, be vigilant for fungal diseases
|
April
- Sow new lawns
- Busy time for harvest fruit and root vegetables
- Prepare ground for planting fruit trees
- Plant cuttings, as appropriate.
|
May
- With leaves falling and crops dying, it’s a great time to work on the compost
- Build your soil, add lime, as required.
- Plant new citrus.
